Rolf Dieter Bahl

28 October 2005 – I have recently found out that my father passed away in 2001. I am trying to locate some people in photos that he had. His name was Rolf Dieter Bahl. I would appreciate you passing this along to anyone that you think might have had contact with him. The internet has made this a very small world He was a tool and die maker born in Berlin at the outbreak of WW2. He was in the East German army, until he migrated to the U.S in the around 1960. As far as I know, he spent the rest of his life in Michigan, Kentucky, Texas, Florida, and finally Guam where he died. He was in the Army and served in Vietnam and Korea as well as the reserves. He retired from the reserves in the mid to late 80’s. The photo’s are at the following link.

I have put this request at the top of my website in the hope that the internet search engines will lock in on it. The following website on the BMW R12 is dedicated to the father I never knew….

Here is a link to my 1974 R90S restoration project.

I designed a 6V (works for 12V as well) solid state flasher for my wife’s R69S. I built several and have sold quite a few. I have a few left

May 22, 2004 - It's Alive!

26 April 2006 - I have finally figured out how to do thumbnail photos. I will be converting the website over during the next few weeks. Each topic is a link and the date following shows the last update. The bike you are reading about is has been sold. I will continue to maintain this website, as I hope that it will continue to help those restoring this fabulous machine.

There is a great resource on the web for R12 owners of which I belong to:

Visit this site if you are an R12 owner, or someone who wants to restore an R12.
