29 February 2004 - Here are a couple of
photo's of the sandblasted hubs. The only thing left to do is to reline the
front and rear brake shoes.

March 2004 - Today I decided to remove the brake linings on both front and rear
brakes in preparation for relining. The brake material I am using is AF232. It
is ~0.15" thick. I removed the brake material by drilling out the original
rivets with a 1/8" drill bit. The rear brake material was 0.1" thick
and the front brake material was 0.135". The front brake material is thick
enough, but it is old and brittle. The photo below shows the brake shoes along
with the old/new brake material and the rivets I will use to fix it to the hub.
The next step will be to sandblast the shoes.
March
2004 - Today I relined the front brake shoes. It took me 3 tries before I got
it the way I liked it. I think the rear linings will go quicker. I just need to
order some more rivets as I wasted a few. To the left are the rear brake shoes
sandblasted.
