26 March 2004 - I finally got the crankshaft back from Ed Korn. It looks good.

Here is the rear bearing and carrier pressed onto the crankshaft

Here is the front bearing and carrier pressed onto the crankshaft.

Here is the front timing gear along with all of the proper spacers installed.

I found that the easiest way to make sure the front and rear bearing carriers were installed properly was to install the crank into the top housing first. There are locating pins in the top engine housing. I heated the top housing where each bearing sits, then I dropped the crank in and rotated the bearings until I felt the bearing carriers drop onto the locating pin.

Next I installed the top engine housing onto the lower. I put a little gray sealant between the two halves and screwed it together.

Here is one of the new pistons installed.

Next I installed the rings on the pistons. The cylinder base gasket with some gray sealer, and finally the cylinder.

Here is the new rear seal. I am replacing the older felt seal with a modern rubber one.

28 March 2004 - I marked the flywheel with timing marks. I decided to use the window that is right under the right cylinder to view these. I used my dremel tool to etch the marks in the flywheel. Then I filled each mark with white paint. "S" is 9 degrees past "OT", and "F" is 30 degrees past "OT".

Next I installed the flywheel on the end of the crankshaft. Note the locking washer underneath

Then I bent the locking washer over on the top and bottom to secure the nut.

Next, I installed the clutch assembly. I used the input gear from transmission to align both of the clutch plates. I used three long bolts with nuts to tighten the whole assembly down and then installed three original bolts. Next I removed the long bolts and replaced them with the original bolts.

April 4 2004 - Today I installed the heads as well as started wheel hub reassembly.
