In Hommage To the GI's of the 2nd and 3rd Bn. of the 60th Inf. Regiment of the 9th Infantry Division of the 1st U.S. Army following the orders of Maj. Gen. J. Lawton Collins. Here at dawn on 5 Sept. 1944 they crossed the Meuse (River) under enemy fire, helped by a handful of volunteer combatants from the Hastiere area. After two hard days of fighting the 2nd SS Panzer Division ( Das Reich), their bravery and their self-sacrifices allowed us to regain our liberty. Let not
