Holidays in Moab
was a great follow up to our intro class
with Bill. This was a slightly more relaxed outing, in that
everyone was assumed to have some offroad driving experience
already. There was somewhat less emphasis on instruction, although
Bill was always there to help everyone through the tough spots.
He also acted as a tour guide, relying on his extensive knowledge
of the area to point out and discuss many highlights with us newcomers.
We had a pretty good mix of vehicles including a Tacoma, a couple
of TJ Wranglers, our Land Cruiser, a Grand Cherokee and three
Land Rover Defenders (a 90, a 110, and Bill's 90).
In Moab there are an awful lot of rock ledges and steps to negotiate.
Bill's spotting is a lifesaver. For me to take the nicest car I've
ever owned and drive it over some of the roughest terrain I've ever
attempted, I must have a lot of confidence that Bill knows what
he's doing. (And I do.)
