MacGuffin is STRNA's newest rescue Scottie. His owners sold their house, moved off and left him to die. There was no one to take care of him. Fortunately a concerned neighbor put food and water out for him and contacted us. He was then sent strait away to the Vet's office for a full set of shots, heartworm check and neuter. After a few rough starts, and a few conflicts with other dogs, "Guffin" as his friends know him has come along just fine. He spent his first few months in a crate with frequent trips outside, until all the hormones had subsided. Now he gets along well with everyone. (He never had a problem with the ladies to start with.) We assume that the reason for his social boo-boo's with the other dogs was that he was probably raised alone, and had never been around others since puppyhood. He now has full run of the house, and gets along wonderfully with the other dogs. He loves to play with his toys, and dosn't mind all the cats that live here either. He really is a sweet little boy. The only health problems we have encountered so far is skin/allergy problems, which we are still working on. Hopefully we will see more and more improvement with Guffin as time goes by.
And if you are wondering about his name....apparently you aren't an Alfred Hitchcock fan. MacGuffin was a Hitchcock term for a sub plot in a story that draws your attention away from what the REAL plot in the story is, until its time to spring the suprise! One of our fosters named him, and the name just stuck. Look for more updates on Guffin later on!
