My name is (your name) and I am with (your organization here). I am serving your area with pure bred rescue of (name of your breed here). I am writing to request your cooperation in rescuing (your breed). If you would like, I would be more than happy to schedule a meeting with you to discuss my rescue policy and adoption procedures. In the best interest of pure breed dogs it is imperative that shelters and rescue work together, to provide the utmost in opportunities wherein these dogs can be given a second chance. I am dedicated to providing the best in healthcare and nutrition to each and every dog I place, as well as socialization and training to ensure a well rounded dog for placement.

I look forward to working closely with your agency for the betterment and preservation of pure bred dogs. Thank you for your consideration.

It is also a good idea to include a business card, or include your phone number in the body of the letter. If you don’t hear from the shelters in more than a week, contact them by phone and see about setting up that interview!! Be kind, but persistent!!
