November 29,2004 -- STRNA would like to thank Cindy Barry for her overwhelming generosity in sending us a Love Gift in memory of her dear Nikki. It was filled with gift cards, toys, towels, bowls and more. Thank you so much Ms. Barry! What a wonderful way for our rescues to start the Holidays!

What a BEAUTIFUL little lassie she was too!

July 9, 2001 -- STRNA gets its 4th face lift, and the first one of the new millenium.  New graphics, and hopefully more easily navigated pages and faster loads.  Same great information with a few updates.

June 1, 2001 - McKennea our elder statesman whom we've had in rescue just over a year, was gently helped across the bridge today to be with his real mom, who died last year.  He was battling pneumonia and liver cancer and old age just got the best of him.  He will be sorely missed as he was my shadow for the last year.  McKennea was 14 1/2 and still acted like a young pup up until 2 days before he did.  He will be cremated and his ashes taken and sprinkled on his real mom's grave, so he'll be home where he belongs, with her.

May 25, 2001 - Max's Emergency Surgery, one of our newest rescues Max, after spending the day throwing up, took a visit to the vet to have X-rays done.  Exploratory surgery is done and he is found to have a half-dollar sized piece of jagged plastic lodged in his stomach and stopping him up.  He is a little groggy when he comes home, but none the worse for wear.  Its a soft diet for almost two weeks and removal of all plastic toys from the yard and toy basket.  Please don't do that again Max.

May 24, 2001 -- STRNA adds HumanClick to our webpages.  This program, designed for use by corporations and small businesses is used to allow site visitors to chat in real time with business associates (in our case rescue representatives).  We added this feature for two reasons: 1) to make ourselves available to people browsing our pages so that they might get to know more about us and about rescue.  2) to make it easier for visitors to ask questions about our website and about dogs we have available for adoption.  We are very anxious to see if this software makes our website more friendly and open as we hope.

March 28, 2001 -- STRNA gets in 2 rescues, Max and Sophie from a local family.  Max was purchased from a breeder at 1 1/2 years of age.  The family kept him a year and he was so spooky that they could never touch him.  His little sister Sophie was purchased at 6 weeks of age to help combat Max's phobia's by the family.  They reasoned that Max would see the young puppy getting love and attention and want to come to them too.  After keeping Sophie in the house for 3 weeks and unable to housebreak her (I don't know of ANYBODY who can completely housebreak a 9 week old puppy) the put her outside with Max permanently.  A year later they decided that having two "yard dogs" was not what they wanted, and relinquished them to rescue.  The family did offer to have Sophie spayed, which really helped out alot.  And STRNA has made every effort to help them in the quest for finding a new dog, one that fits their lifestyle and family and will be a cherished pet.

February 19, 2001 -- After a 6 week battle with Splenetic and Liver cancer, our beloved Norche passed away at 2:00 AM in the kind arms of her mother, and the company of her friends.  She had been a very sick little girl for quite some time, but we didn't know until a few days before that she had cancer.  She didn't make it to see the Specialist, Dr. Newman, Monday morning.  She was slated to have her spleen removed that morning, but sadly didn't make it through the weekend.  She was the little girl who started it all.  She got me interested in rescue, behavior, training, and more specific started my "Scottie Obsession".  She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, for she was a very special lady indeed, and the "Queen" of all our hearts.  Rest well my little puddin head.

February 14 - 15, 2001 -- A crew from Rocket Productions was here filming our Norche for Animal Planets "Breed All About It" show.  She was chosen because of her "artistic ability" and they filmed her painting her pictures (which we used as fund raisers for our rescue efforts) she has been feeling a bit low, but performed beautifully for the cameras, ever the camera hog.  The show is set to air sometime in the late Summer or early Fall.  Check back here for updates and air times.  They will be posted as soon as we get word.

July 18, 2000
-- STRNA officially joins Petfinder.org in hopes of helping us make better placements with our rescue dogs.  Thank you Petfinder for providing such a great service and such wonderful tools for those of us who do rescue.
