MAN DRIVES FOR TROPHY BUCKS

You'll find the most deadly of trophy-buck tactics the

least-talked-about, least-practiced strategy by many hunters.

Most hunters realize they either take trophy bucks on opening

weekend because the deer don't know the hunters are there or

at the end of the season when the older-age animals chase does

24 hours a day to breed. A man-drive will produce trophy bucks

throughout the season.

-=>Here's how to man drive for trophy bucks<=-

* Assume the biggest bucks on any property stay in the thickest cover.

* Know which way the wind blows before the drive begins.

* Have only two or three standers and situate them strategically

on both sides of the thick cover where the drive takes place and

at the opposite end of the drive's start.

* Ask standers to stalk to their stand sites and make as little noise

as possible to keep from spooking the deer.

* To be more effective, use a man-drive that covers no more than the

length and breath of a city block.

* Have the driver begin the hunt by breaking an ammonia cap, like the

ones football players use to clear their heads after tackles.

* Instruct the driver to walk back and forth through the thick cover

trying to make as little noise as possible while letting the wind

carry the scent of the ammonia cap throughout the area.

* Watch for the larger bucks to break out on the sides.

* Understand that a trophy buck will come sneaking out of the cover,

offering the standers an opportunity to take a shot, if the hunters

conduct the drive properly.

* Drive several, thick-cover areas during the same day.

* Don't conduct a man-drive in the same area more than once every

two to three weeks.
