--Helen M. Luke

For the Night lends Her counsel
In worlds between
The Daylights Rays,
Whose eyes are dim
In ways unseen.
There She lights the Golden Path
Into the mountainous heights
Of my desire,
And leads me ever forward
Toward the true reflection
Of my Self,
Eternally suspended
Within Her Fire!

Sing to me a Song of the Sea
Whose ever-changing melody
Is rich with power and mystery
And never quite finished
Yet always complete;
A Song of History
And Prophecy...
--Shawn E. Donahoo (6/19/90)

Inspiration...
That fleeting inward glance--
A glimpse glinting towards eternity,
Reflected back in the eyes of the beholder--
To carry the spark a little farther,
A little deeper into the Soul of Man...

I stand upon the side of a cliff
Of a Mountain of the Past,
Looking into the Chasm of Eternity.
I see the Lake of the Future
Shimmering in the twilight below,
Gently reflecting the stars of the Heavens.
And I contemplate the stone that
I've journeyed here to cast,
Trying to judge before I let it fly,
Upon what shores its ripples might be known...
--Shawn E. Donahoo (7/24/89)

Round and round and round we go--
Not too fast, and not too slow
So we may see, through blood and bone,
The Precious Dove found in The Stone.
--Shawn E. Donahoo (3/22/94)
(Lillian, Alabama)

Through numbered days, the count unknown,
We make our way from dawn to dusk,
Yet in our dreams from midnights cusp
Unnumbered lives we dare to play
While under the Moons pale, watchful eye,
A thousand stars look on . . .
--Shawn E. Donahoo (3/23/94)

Within a Forest, deep and cool,
There lies a Fountain of Forgotten Truth,
Long abandoned and overgrown
By seeds of Folly, lightly sown
In youths tempestuous haste.
Within this Fountain's Eye I step
Back through a hidden past
To see the life I left behind
Beyond the one I know.
Its waters still and dark as glass
Reflect a face now hardly known--
A stranger from the past.
To rise with spheres of colored glass,
Their forgotten magic shown.
