My all time favorite classic actress, Jennifer Jones has fascinated me since high school. She appeared in a wide range of roles, from her poignant portrayal of Bernadette Soubirous in The Song of Bernadette (for which she won the Academy Award) to her ethereal role as Jennie in the classic Portrait of Jennie. Jones had a unique quality that is seldom seen in film. When I could not find any web sites about her, I decided to create one myself, and this is what got me started! Dorothy Dandridge was the first African American woman to win an Oscar nomination as Best Actress (for Carmen Jones in 1954). Her luminous beauty and extraordinary talent was essentially wasted in an era in which black actors and actresses struggled to find good roles in Hollywood. Dandridge's life was tragic and short lived. My site includes a biography, a small gallery of portraits, a listing of her films and a fan forum. Site launched July 1999.
