Custom Knives by Daniel Fronefield

(Updated 12/20/2002)

These are a few of my other creations using a wide variety of exotic materials. Many of these knives are commissioned pieces, and are already sold. Pricing reflects what the costs might be to create a similar piece.  Pricing on knives featuring meteorite are subject to change due to the ever increasing value of this rare material.

(Stellar I - click for larger image)"Stellar I" - This knife is totally immersed in the meteorite theme. The blade is San-Mai meteorite damascus, fully fileworked and acid etched.  The handle is fabricated of sliced Gibeon meteorite, etched to show the beautiful widmanstatten pattern.  This was then inlaid with rare Esquel pallasite meteorite and Renfrow stony meteorite in 14kt gold settings.  Albin pallasite meteorite is inlaid into the spine and Renfrow meteorite is inlaid in the thumb-bob.  A 14kt gold blade stop enhances the fully fileworked titanium liners and spine.  To cap it off, the thumb-bob and gold inlays in the handle form a "shooting star".......one you can hold in your hand. I have invested in a variety of meteorites to be used as the raw material for my creations.  The stony meteorites used in my handles come in a large variety of colors, patterns, rarity and collectability. Some meteorites contain the remains of supernova estimated to be in excess of 10 billion years old…more than twice the age of our own Solar System! Some contain amino acids, the building blocks of life. I even have available segments of meteorites that came from Mars.

The other exotic materials that I have used on my knives include:

Premium Wooly Mammoth ivory
Premium ancient walrus ivory
Fossil Cave Bear canines
Extinct Stellar's Seacow bone
Fossil Dinosaur bone
Black Coral
Baculite (fossil ammonite - beautiful patterns)
Fossil Whale bone
Fossil Palm wood
Musk Ox horn
Pietersite (blue/gold/red)
Lapis Lazuli stone (deep royal blue)
Azurite/Malachite stone (blue and green)
Sodalite stone (blue with white veins)
Jade (various shades of green and black)
Snakewood, ironwood, ebony, rosewood, bog oak, bloodwood, burls
Plus other exotic woods, antler, horn and stones
The selection is always growing
